WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after the New York Times reported that the whistleblower approached Chairman Schiff’s staff with his allegations against President Trump before seeing the CIA whistleblower process through:

“Democrats continue to make a mockery of important processes in our government. I am deeply concerned that the whistleblower went straight to Chairman Schiff’s staff without seeing the CIA whistleblower process through its conclusion. Chairman Schiff is a proven partisan with a history of making unsubstantiated allegations in pursuit of a single political agenda: the impeachment of President Trump and the annulment of the 2016 election results. Democrats tried the same behind-the-scenes coordination between accusers, lawmakers, liberal lawyers, and the media during the confirmation hearings for Justice Kavanaugh. It didn’t work then, and it won’t work now.”
