WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today received recognition from the American Energy Alliance (AEA) as an American Energy Champion in the U.S. House of Representatives for having one of the strongest voting records on supporting affordable, abundant, and reliable energy. Whip Scalise received a score of 100 percent on the AEA American Energy Scorecard for his work in Congress to promote a bold energy policy that protects Louisiana and strengthens the United States at home and abroad.
“I’m honored to be named an American Energy Champion for my efforts to strengthen America’s energy security, and I will continue fighting in Congress to ensure American families have an abundant and affordable supply of energy, as we help our energy producers survive and make it through this challenging time,” said Whip Scalise. “In Louisiana and across the country, American energy producers and their employees have faced unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now more than ever, we must work to protect the jobs, communities, and coastal restoration projects supported by energy producers in Louisiana and across the nation.”
“Rep. Scalise is an unyielding, committed champion for affordable, American energy,” said Thomas Pyle, President, American Energy Alliance. “Time and time again, he has demonstrated the importance of putting constituents’ interests before special interests. He understands what it means to reduce the role of big government and the impact it can have on energy markets, as well as the benefits of expanding economic opportunity and prosperity, particularly for working families and those on fixed incomes. His energy scorecard and 100% record reflect these priorities and I wish we had more like him in Washington.”
