WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) made the following statement after the House Energy and Commerce Committee, of which he is a member, voted to advance the Stopping Bad Robocalls Act during today’s markup:

“I am happy to report that Republicans and Democrats came together to pass a bill out of committee that will finally give relief to families who are fed up with robocalls. Not only are these calls an annoyance, but often times they are perpetrated by criminals who are willfully ignoring the law in an attempt to defraud American families. This bill will empower people with updated technology to block calls from scam artists. I look forward to this legislation receiving a vote on the House floor soon.”
